Dark Shadows, Revival Series Resin Model Kit, Ben Cross as Barnabas Collins

 In 1991, Dan Curtis Productions revisited their most beloved property, Dark Shadows. The television series only lasted a scant 13 episodes. There were comics by Innovation Comics, and a little merchandising for the series. One of the more impressive items was a 1/6 model kit. Released by Action Kits in 1991, and sculpted by Bruce Turner, this kit was fully licensed. It was released with an illustrated box and instruction sheet.

 In 2010, a little customizer decided he wanted to see toys made from favorite films. He titled his "company" Distinctive Dummies. The rest is history.  Originally consisting of he, his wife, and other like minded folks who wanted certain characters to have plastic representation in their collections, DD grew to something of a collector phenomenon. Characters we fans thought would never see the light of day materialized. Wasp Woman, Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Louis Jordan as Dracula, and so many more became realities. Others have copied DD, but DD's reputation is astounding. I have done a lot with them in the role of freelance paint work, and as a creative consultant. These folks are top notch. Although they started their offerings in 1/6 scale, they rarely do 1/6 any longer. Their focus is now mainly "mego" scale. Their 1/6 offerings were usually quite impressive.
