Billiken Models: Phantom of the Opera Model

 Released by Billiken  in the late 1980's these kits have amazing detail. Created in vinyl. Paintwork by me. Issued without bases of any sort, I mounted The Phantom to a small stone step base. This model has the option of building him with different arms. Lon Chaney in all his glory captured!

 In 2010, a little customizer decided he wanted to see toys made from favorite films. He titled his "company" Distinctive Dummies. The rest is history.  Originally consisting of he, his wife, and other like minded folks who wanted certain characters to have plastic representation in their collections, DD grew to something of a collector phenomenon. Characters we fans thought would never see the light of day materialized. Wasp Woman, Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Louis Jordan as Dracula, and so many more became realities. Others have copied DD, but DD's reputation is astounding. I have done a lot with them in the role of freelance paint work, and as a creative consultant. These folks are top notch. Although they started their offerings in 1/6 scale, they rarely do 1/6 any longer. Their focus is now mainly "mego" scale. Their 1/6 offerings were usually quite impressive.
