Universal Monsters: Glow In the Dark Post Cereal Premiums, 1975

 Ah, yes. The 70's was a good era to be a Monster Kid. We late comers may have missed the original Aurora kits, and their glorious, artistically superior, long boxes, but we did get some goodies. Aurora was fading, but these cereal premiums were offered up. Possibly as their last hurrah for Universal Monsters by the company. Honey Comb, Super Sugar Crisp, and others had monsters as prizes in the boxes. This is the entire set, as they only produced 4 characters. 1975.

 In 2010, a little customizer decided he wanted to see toys made from favorite films. He titled his "company" Distinctive Dummies. The rest is history.  Originally consisting of he, his wife, and other like minded folks who wanted certain characters to have plastic representation in their collections, DD grew to something of a collector phenomenon. Characters we fans thought would never see the light of day materialized. Wasp Woman, Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Louis Jordan as Dracula, and so many more became realities. Others have copied DD, but DD's reputation is astounding. I have done a lot with them in the role of freelance paint work, and as a creative consultant. These folks are top notch. Although they started their offerings in 1/6 scale, they rarely do 1/6 any longer. Their focus is now mainly "mego" scale. Their 1/6 offerings were usually quite impressive.
